Assistive technology devices and services were initial defined in federal law in the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act of 1990 (Public Law 101-476). Visual Aids: Electronic and non-electronic aids such as magnifiers, talking calculators, Braille writers, adapted tape players, screen reading computer software applications for the laptop, and Braille note-taking devices that help students with visual impairments or blindness in accessing and creating details that is generally present in a visual (print) modality.
